The Dallas Mavericks are getting ready for the 2025-26 NBA season. PJ Washington and the Mavs recently agreed to a contract extension, as the versatile forward prepares for his second full season with Dallas. Washington will play a big role once again during the 2025-26 season. Although training camp is still a few weeks away, it seems as if the forward is already ready for the new campaign to begin.
Washington posted the following message on his Instagram Story, via MFFL NATION on X, formerly Twitter: “Bout tht time.”

Anticipation for the new campaign is increasing. Mavs fans were frustrated last season following the shocking Luka Doncic trade. However, expectations are high for Anthony Davis in his first full season with Dallas. Additionally, 2025 No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg is set to make his Mavericks debut.
Dallas features a competitive roster. Will there be some lingering frustration from the Doncic trade? Most likely, but many Mavericks fans are still excited for the future of the team.
The Mavs last won a championship in 2011. Dallas most recently appeared in the NBA Finals in 2024, ultimately losing to the Boston Celtics. General manager Nico Harrison boldly stated that “defense wins championships” following the Doncic move. Although Harrison may never truly win back the fanbase following such a surprising trade, a Mavs championship within the next year or two would certainly help matters.
Training camp is scheduled to begin in early October. PJ Washington will have to wait a couple of weeks before things get started, but the fact that he is seemingly ready to go right now is an encouraging sign as the Mavs look to make a competitive run during the 2025-26 NBA season.
