Dallas Mavericks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. had no other explanation about their abysmal performance against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night, per Brice Paterik of Mavs Moneyball. The Mavs simply didn't have it tonight as they bowed to the Grizzlies in embarrassing fashion, 111-81.

Hardaway Jr. also applauded Memphis' physicality, especially on the defensive end, and did Dallas ever feel it. The Grizzlies put the clamps on as they forced the Mavericks to a horrendous 26-of-85 (30.6 percent) shooting from the field. The Mavericks also connected on just seven out of their 40 attempts from beyond the arc.

The Saturday night loss marks their worst of the season so far. They have also dropped seven of their last nine contests.

Mavericks super rookie Luka Doncic top-scored for Dallas with 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting, while center Dwight Powell contributed 13 points. Tim Hardaway Jr. finished with 10 points, shooting just 3-of-10 from the field.

On the other hand, the Mavericks didn't make it tough for Memphis on the offensive end either. There was no resistance from the Mavs defense as the Grizzlies shot an efficient 50 percent from the field and made 14-of-34 from distance. Last night's win was the largest margin of victory for the Memphis' 2018-19 campaign.

Recently acquired center Jonas Valanciunas continues to have his way for Memphis as he led the team with 20 points, 10 boards, and four assists. Tonight was his third game with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds over the past four contests.

Avery Bradley and Jevon Carter also chipped in 15 points apiece, while three other Grizzlies, including veteran point guard Mike Conley, contributed 12 points each.

The Mavericks have been safely out of the playoff picture in the Western Conference for quite a while now. Still, this shouldn't be an excuse for them not to bring in the energy on a nightly basis.
