The Dallas Mavericks may have just landed Kristaps Porzingis in a shocking trade with the New York Knicks, but that doesn't mean other teams don't think they could be trade deadline sellers.

According to David Lord of 247Sports, teams are preparing to call the Mavs about Harrison Barnes and Dwight Powell sometime between now and the Thursday trade deadline.

Here is the thing: Barnes has a $25 million player option for next season, so there is a chance Dallas could open up some of the cap room that it lost in the Porzingis trade if he opts out. However, there is a very good chance that Barnes opts in, as it seems highly doubtful that he will ever get $25 million in any one single season ever again.

For that reason, it would make plenty of sense for the Mavs to bypass Barnes' decision completely by trading him elsewhere.

Powell's situation is very similar, although much cheaper.

The big man is earning $9.6 million this season and has a $10.3 million player option for next year, and, like Barnes, Powell opting out of his deal is certainly not a shoo-in.

Of course, the Mavs probably would not get too much in return for either player, as both are potential rentals, and Barnes carries the possibility of being a very expensive player for the 2019-20 campaign.

However, any cap space Dallas could clear for this summer would be incredibly beneficial, as it would then have the ability to put more pieces around Porzingis and rookie phenom Luka Doncic.
