It's still unclear whether Dirk Nowitzki will retire at season's end. But like the rest of the league throughout 2018-19, the Miami Heat took it upon themselves on Thursday to congratulate the Dallas Mavericks icon on his stellar career nonetheless, posting this awesome highlight reel on twitter of he and Dwyane Wade – who's actually hanging it up for sure, by the way – battling it out over the years.

It bears repeating once more that Nowitzki has yet to make a final decision on his playing future. Regardless, Thursday's game will certainly be the last time he shares the same floor as Wade, who's been on a retirement tour he's calling “One Last Dance” since the season tipped off in October.
Nowitzki and Wade have faced off in two NBA Finals, both of which ended with somewhat surprising results. In 2006, the Heat came back from being down 0-2 to beat the Mavericks for the Larry O'Brien Trophy, as Wade firmly established himself as an all-time great with a Finals performance for the ages, averaging 34.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. Nowitzki got his revenge five years later, though, leading Dallas to victory over heavily-favored Miami during LeBron James' first season in South Beach, averaging 26.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
