After a turning the tables in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, the Golden State Warriors have gone from legitimate favorites to overwhelming leaders in the series, as experts in 538‘s website claim they have a 91 percent chance to come out a winner from the series, according to their CARMELO projections (Career-Arc Regression Model Estimator with Local Optimization) and an 84 percent probability to win the NBA Finals come June.

Having survived what seemed an inevitable Game 1 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, the Warriors have now taken a 1-0 lead in the series and kept their home court advantage, putting their Western Conference rival's chance in peril with questions to Kawhi Leonard‘s ankle stability after hurting it twice during the third period of the game.

The Spurs were not given very much of a chance to begin with, as none of 22 ESPN experts picked them to get out of this series, even before Game 1 had taken place.

Matter of fact, only Dave McMenamin had the series going to seven games, with 13 of them picking the Warriors in five games, and the other eight in six outings.

The BPI gave the Warriors an 91 percent chance to win the series, including a 29 percent probability to come out of it in five games — matching the heavily favored choice by the experts.

San Antonio will need Leonard's speedy recovery for Game 2 of the series, but even more so for a home stand on Saturday night at the AT&T Center, where they can hope to make the first step toward evening out the series.
