Despite an impeccable playoff run since mid-April, shooting guard Klay Thompson wasn't afraid to admit he and his teammates have sorely missed the presence of their skipper, Steve Kerr.
“We miss his voice, obviously,” Thompson said Saturday, according to ASAP Sports.
“His knowledge of the game is incredible. Just his demeanor — he has such a calming demeanor. No moment is too big for him. And he just knows how to keep us in line, keep us focused. So does [acting head coach] Mike Brown. Mike is doing a great job. But we definitely miss Steve.”
The Golden State Warriors have been flawless under Brown, totaling an 11-0 record under him and an NBA-record 13-0 mark in the postseason.
But despite the success, one can't help but think there has to be a difference from one coach to the other, despite having spent the entire season side-by-side during team practices, shootarounds, walkthroughs, video sessions, and on the sidelines.

“I'm different than Steve in a lot of ways. My car is clean; his car is dirty. His locker's dirty; my locker's clean. He actually pointed that out to me today,” Brown joked. “So there's a contrast between the two of us where I think it fits well because we kind of sort of meet in the middle. So it's a good mix. I see things, after being here with him for a year, probably more his way.”
“But again, when I'm coaching, he always says, if you see something or feel something, go ahead and do it.”
Kerr has become more involved with the team as of late, delivering thoughtful and heartfelt halftime speeches since the start of the Western Conference Finals, a tradition that he's kept going for the last five games.
His involvement, while limited — has provided a sense of togetherness in the team, despite not seeing his face on the sidelines.
