Like many other professional athletes, Golden State Warriors guard D'Angelo Russell has a strong affinity for Muhammad Ali. Russell, however, has a unique affection for the all-time great boxing legend, as they share the same hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

“People ask, ‘Who would you want to be if you could be anyone for a day?’ It was always Muhammad Ali. ‘Who are your role models?’ Always Muhammad Ali,” Russell told NBC Sports Bay Area.

“Every little thing he did felt so powerful. He was a great mind.”

When Russell joined the Warriors this offseason, he knew exactly how he wanted his residence to be decorated. According to a report from NBC Sports, the aura of Ali can be felt all throughout his home.

A red neon sign hangs in Russell's living room. On it reads Ali's famous quote, “Float like a butterfly. Sting like a bee.” Russell also has a collection of posters and bobbleheads that reflect his love for Ali, as well as a copy of his autobiography.

Russell has played well for the Warriors in the absence of Stephen Curry, who is currently sidelined due to a broken left hand. In his 22 appearances this season, Russell has racked up averages of 23.2 points on 43.3 percent shooting from the field (36.3 percent from beyond the arc), 6.0 assists, 3.4 rebounds and just under one steal (0.9) in 31.4 minutes per outing.

Russell is currently listed as “out” for Monday night's game against the Kings due to a bruised right shoulder. He went through practice on Sunday and was listed as probable, but it seems he'll need a bit of time to recover.

The Warriors have dropped four straight. They'll look to get back into the win column against the Kings on Monday. Tip-off inside the Golden 1 Center is set for 10:00 p.m. ET.
