Things definitely got chippy between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday. Naturally, Draymond Green was in the thick of most of the action.

The outspoken Warriors talisman had a bit of a smack talk exchange with Celtics forward Grant Williams, who himself heaped praise on Green as one of his idols earlier in the series. Green spoke about this incident ahead of their Game 3 matchup on Wednesday, and the Warriors star made it abundantly clear that he appreciates Williams' kind words:

“When you see a guy say, ‘Man, I grew up watching him,' you appreciate it because that's why you work. You work to create a path for the next young guy,” Green said, via Celtics on NBC Sports Boston on Twitter. “My goal when I came in here was to create a path for Grant Williams. And so to hear him say that is an honor, so I don't take that for granted one bit. When you say that and then talk junk to me, then yes I'm going to say something about that, of course.”

Green then went on to say how he has no intention of using Williams' compliments against him. Apparently, this is something Green learned from Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James earlier in the Warriors stud's career:

“I'm not going to go watch his press conference where he gives me props, where he appreciates my game, and then go throw it in his face,” Green continued. “That's whack to me. I'm not doing that, that's just not how I roll.

“When I was wearing LeBron James sneakers my first one, two, three years, and playing against him, he didn't throw it in my face like, ‘Dude, you got on my sneakers.' This is just not something you do.”

Green and LeBron have been in their fair share of intense moments on the basketball court. Nevertheless, the mutual respect between them has never wavered. It seems that this is the type of relationship the Warriors veteran envisions to have with Grant Williams.
