Many believe Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has the easiest job in the world, leading one of the most talented teams in NBA history. Warriors superstar Kevin Durant, however, says Kerr “preaches discipline” and lets the players control the game, something a lot of coaches don't do nowadays.

Sure, Kerr has the luxury of coaching Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, DeMarcus Cousins, Draymond Green, and Durant, five multi-time All-Stars. Some might think anyone can do that. But keep in mind, it takes a special person like Kerr to not have an ego and let the players dictate the outcome of a game, the trait of the former Coach of the Year Durant appreciates most.

“[Kerr] goes to the side,” Durant told Jon Wertheim of Sports Illustrated. “He understands that he has a bunch of guys with high I.Q.s so he doesn't really get in the way too much, letting us be who we are. But at the same time, he preaches discipline. [He’s] teaching every single day….and we enjoy that study of basketball. And I think that he has great qualities when it comes to that.”

Since becoming head coach of the Warriors back in 2014, Kerr has helped Golden State to three championships. The Dubs are well on their way to winning the title again this season as well, joining Bill Russell's Boston Celtics as the only team in league history to win four titles in five seasons.

Kerr has been around some of the brightest minds in basketball. He was teammates with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Tim Duncan, and was coached by Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich during his playing days.

Now, Kerr is using what he learned from all those smart folks and teaching it to Durant and company — and the results speak for themselves.
