There is a growing concern that the Houston Rockets' breakout center Christian Wood might be out for an indefinite time. On Thursday, the big man rolled his right ankle in a fastbreak play against the Memphis Grizzlies. Wood, who finished the evening with 17 points and seven boards, had to exit the game in the third quarter and had to be wheelchaired out of the arena.
According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, the 25-year-old is set to have an MRI tomorrow to assess the severity of the injury. Wood had already missed three games earlier this year as he similarly rolled the same ankle.

After the initial report, MacMahon claims that the Rockets are concerned that Wood might need to be sidelined for an extended period to fully rehab his ankle which he has now tweaked twice in three weeks.
“It didn't look great. It was unfortunate.” said head coach Stephen Silas.

To echo the rookie head coach, this is really unfortunate for the surging Rockets squad. Houston was able to shrug off Wood's injury concern and come up with another huge win against the Grizzlies. After Thursday's win, they've now won seven of their last eight games and Wood has been a key contributor in that stretch.
Wood has had a monster season so far in his first year in H-Town and even found his name in All-Star considerations after the first batch of votes. He's been averaging 22.3 points per game, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per outing.
