The LA Clippers won't feel pressure to make a desperation trade if they miss on pivotal chances to add some superstar talent in free agency, according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic.

The Clips could make a run at Kevin Durant and/or Kawhi Leonard, yet the former's season-ending injury could potentially throw a wrench in many teams' free-agency plans.

Regardless of which team ends up with Durant or Leonard, the Clippers won't feel forced to make a reactionary trade, instead remaining true to their principles of building through their talent, much like they did through the course of the 2018-19 season.

It's likely the Clippers will attract at least one max-level star. If it isn't Durant or Leonard, they will still have a solid core and a top-notch coach to make them competitive and give them a chance to make the playoffs.

Conversely, risking it all just to attain a star-caliber player before the trade deadline could undo much of what this front office, bolstered by the help of advisor Jerry West, has done since retooling their roster by trading away Chris Paul and later Blake Griffin, who took part in the Lob City era of the franchise.

The Clippers have young capable pieces in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Landry Shamet, Ivica Zubac and even Montrezl Harrell. Any star who may join them in free agency should only bolster those cogs, ones the organization won't jeopardize for the sheer sake of bringing in star talent.
