Ball has been dealing with a bone bruise in his sprained left ankle. His initial timeline for recovery was slated at four to six weeks, but it sounds like he'll need a bit more time. He needed crutches and a walking boot for a while, but he has reportedly been running on an underwater treadmill in recent days.
In 47 appearances with the Lakers this season (45 starts), Ball has racked up averages of 9.9 points on 40.6 percent shooting from the field (32.9 percent from beyond the arc), 5.4 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 30.3 minutes per outing.

The Lakers (29-31 and fourth in the Pacific Division standings) have struggled with Ball out of the rotation. In fact, they've lost four of their last five games. Their next shot at claiming a victory comes on Wednesday night, when they'll welcome the New Orleans Pelicans to town for a nationally televised event.
