Despite the uncertainty with being traded, Luka Doncic is ready to join the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as LeBron James. After the Lakers traded for Doncic on Saturday, it sparked a frenzy across the NBA. Although questions were thrown at the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles took full advantage.
After the emotions have settled, Doncic explained how grateful and humbled he is to play alongside James for the first time.
“It's like a dream come true,” Doncic said via Mike Trudell on X (formerly Twitter). “I always looked up to him. There are so many things I can learn from him, and I'm just excited. It's an amazing feeling.”
Doncic makes a valid point about James. He's one of the smartest basketball players to ever step on the court. Many of his former teammates have told countless stories about what he would do. For instance, Iman Shumpert told how James called out the other team's plays before they ran it. The combined IQs could be scary for the rest of the league.

LeBron James and Luka Doncic will make the Lakers interesting
Although the Lakers are losing Anthony Davis, they're gaining one of the top perimeter creators in the NBA. He's able to create his own shot, be an effective playmaker and read the defense flawlessly. Now, being partnered with James, his game will likely go to another level.
After leading the league in scoring, Doncic has someone like James to take pressure off of him. Not to mention, the latter's IQ is a true game-changer. It can help Doncic receive more easier scoring opportunities. Still, the Lakers have a clear indication of their future.
With James's potential retirement coming soon, it seems that the Lakers are preparing for a move. Having James pass the torch to Doncic can keep the franchise afloat and even elevate them, in the years to come.
