Former Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson says a friend told him Kawhi Leonard wants to meet with him.
Leonard is considering signing with the Lakers once free agency starts on June 30.
Johnson says “A friend of mine called and says Kawhi wants to meet with you,” Johnson told ESPN. “I said no problem. I’m available if that’s what this man wants.
“But I got a great life. I’m not trying to mess with anybody’s job.”

Leonard is from California. When he requested a trade from the San Antonio Spurs in the summer of 2018, the two-time Finals MVP reportedly had the Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers atop his trade wish list. Leonard might want to meet with Magic so he can get a better understanding of the inner workings of the organization which is led by owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka.
The Toronto Raptors can offer Leonard the most money in free agency. It's hard to envision a scenario where Leonard joins forces with James and AD after winning the championship, but you never know what can happen in the NBA.
