Alex Caruso's awkward and somewhat unathletic appearance has led to the Los Angeles Lakers point guard becoming a bit of a meme on the internet.

However, beyond his pasty white skin and balding hairline, Caruso is still one of the best athletes in the world. Although he doesn't get a ton of playing time for the Lakers, the 25-year-old is capable of making plays at the highest level.

In the fourth quarter of the Lakers' Tuesday night matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans, Caruso had perhaps the play of the game.

With the Lakers hanging on to a 3-point lead, Caruso's former teammate and current Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball went up for a layup to cut that lead to one. Caruso, on the other hand, had a different idea.

The fan-favorite guard met Ball at the rim and sent his shot flying out of bounds in a stellar display of help defense.

In 18.1 minutes per game, Caruso is averaging 5.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from beyond the arc for the first-place Lakers.

The Lakers eventually came out with the 118-109 victory, with Alex Caruso finishing with eight points, three rebounds and eight assists.
