The Miami Heat entered Tuesday night's game up 3-games-to-1 over the Atlanta Hawks in their first-round NBA Playoff series. While the Heat had the advantage of playing in front of their home fans with a chance to close the Hawks out, the task was made more difficult by the absences of Jimmy Butler, who was dealing with a sore knee, and Kyle Lowry, who has been battling a hamstring injury.
Well, the Heat went out and secured a Game 5 win, sending the Hawks home after their 97-94 victory. The Heat, who already looked like one of the league's better teams throughout the series, arguably looked even more impressive playing so well without their best player in Butler and a key contributor in Lowry.
The Heat enjoyed standout games from the likes of Bam Adebayo, Victor Oladipo, and Tyler Herro, while players like Max Strus and P.J. Tucker came up huge in the series-clinching victory. But who had the biggest impact on the win?
Here are the Heat's three biggest heroes from their Game 5 win over the Hawks without Butler and Lowry.
3 Biggest Heat Heroes In Game 5 win over Hawks
3. P.J. Tucker

P.J. Tucker is generally an afterthought on the box score, though he often finds a way to leave his mark on the game. Tuesday was no different, as Tucker's defense was a crucial part of the Heat's excellent gameplan to stop Hawks' sharpshooter Trae Young. Tucker, who did have five fouls, played excellent defense when switched onto Young, helping Miami hold the star to just 2-for-12 shooting while finishing a game-high +14. Tucker's versatility makes him one of the Heat's unsung heroes. Tuesday night's game was no different, as the Heat couldn't have won the game without Tucker's efforts.
2. Bam Adebayo
Bam Adebayo, who had been a bit quiet offensively through the series' first four games, stepped up big time for the Heat in Game 5. The star center dropped a 20-point double-double, with 20 points and 11 boards. Adebayo also came up with a huge fourth-quarter play on defense that helped the Heat seal the deal. With Miami holding onto a three-point lead with 5.2 seconds left in the game, the Hawks were attempting to in-bound the ball with a chance to tie the game. Adebayo wasn't having any of it, as he stole the pass, effectively ending the game and the series with one move.
1. Victor Oladipo
Talk about a vintage performance! Playing the most minutes since his 40-point performance in the regular season finale, Oladipo turned back the clock to his Indiana Pacers days, making an impact on both ends of the floor while leading the Heat to victory. The talented guard poured in a team-high 23 points on an efficient 8 of 16 shooting from the field while chipping in three steals. Oladipo has been eased along in his return from a quad injury that kept him of the court for most of the year. However, games like this show what he's capable of when given a heavier workload. If Oladipo is going to play like that alongside Butler and Lowry when they return, the Heat are going to be a very tough out in the Eastern Conference- and beyond.
