Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, a 12-time All-Star, a Finals MVP, and an eight-time All-NBA team member, already has three championships to his name. However, despite all that he has achieved in his illustrious career, the 15-year veteran has never forgotten where he came from and the steps he had to take to get to where he is now.
Addressing the crowd in the Five-Star Basketball Camp, Wade shared his story about once not being the exceptional athlete he is today.
“I wasn’t the kid who got invited to camps,” Wade claimed, via NBA reporter Jaycob Ammerman. “I didn’t have the opportunity to put my name out there. I had to go to my high school and put in the work behind closed doors.”

However, this did not hinder Wade from persevering to become the best basketball player he could be at that time. The 36-year-old also shared his tried and tested recipe for success.
“It's all about the mentality,” he said. “It's all about sacrifice and focus. It's also about believing in yourself and your own ability.”
These are obviously some great words to live by. It becomes even more meaningful coming from someone who actually went through the exact same process and successfully overcame all the challenges along the way. Wade is truly one of a kind, and if he indeed decides to call it a career in the very near future, the entire basketball world is surely going to miss him dearly.
