Contrary to a previous report by Adam Spolane of Houston Sports 610 Radio, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat have yet to come to an agreement in his playing situation, according to Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype.

“In fact, there's some doubt that the two sides will be able to reach a deal,” tweeted Kennedy. “Retirement is a serious consideration for Wade. If he plays, it'll be in Miami. But there's no guarantee he'll play.”

The prior report noted this upcoming season would be Wade's last but didn't give any sort of insight as to contract parameters, making it rather questionable.

Local reporters and anchors on the beat questioned the veracity of this report, given that Spolane is in Houston and not from the Miami beat.

Wade infamously left the Heat in 2016 to play for his hometown Chicago Bulls, a venture that lasted a mere season after the organization decided to flip Jimmy Butler in hopes to rebuild. Flash would later land next to longtime friend LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, a short-lived adventure, as he was traded back to the Heat for a second-round pick minutes before the end of the trade deadline.

The 36-year-old showed some flashes of his old self during his recent 21 games with the Heat, including a game-winner over the Philadelphia 76ers in front of the home crowd, but the sheer toll of his many injuries, along with his new bench role has put his playing longevity in question.

Wade has only played over 70 games once (2015-16) in the past seven seasons, something that has made him mull retirement as a serious potential option.
