LaMarcus Aldridge and the San Antonio Spurs agreed on a buyout that now has the 35-year-old available as a free agent. Several teams are trying to scoop up the services of the seven-time All-Star, and according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Aldridge will reportedly talk to the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, and Brooklyn Nets before making a decision on his new squad.
It comes as no surprise that the top contenders are looking to land the five-time All-NBA big man, even if he's not the player he once was. In his age-36 campaign, Aldridge is no longer the force who can get 20-and-10 on a nightly basis. In 21 games with the Spurs this season, he averaged just 13.7 points and 4.5 rebounds, both of which are his lowest output since his rookie campaign.

Miami would be the ideal landing spot for Aldridge considering its need for more depth up front. Playing power forward for most of his prime, the 6-foot-10 big man would probably play best as a center at this point of his career given his dwindling ability to keep in step with the more athletic 4s in today's game. Aldridge could potentially still start for the Heat at power forward and be a good fit alongside Bam Adebayo with his ability to stretch the floor.
As for the other potential destinations, LaMarcus Aldridge would probably come off the bench and see a much lesser role than he's accustomed. Iff winning a championship is all that he cares about at this point, the potential is there with all of his rumored suitors.
