Another classic Air Jordan sneaker will return next year as Jordan Brand and Nike are beginning to announce their retro releases for the upcoming calendar year. After a number of previous retro releases, the Air Jordan 5 will return in its most popular colorway, made famous by Will Smith on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The Air Jordan 5 was first released in 1990 and designed by Jordan sneaker architect Tinker Hatfield. The shoes draw inspiration from World War II fighter jets, iconized by the “teeth” along the lateral outsole. The shoes were worn by Michael Jordan during the 1991 season where he debuted them during the All-Star game.
The sneaker also gained notoriety on the big screen when Will Smith wore them throughout the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The silhouette instantly became a staple throughout the 90's and until their eventual retro releases in the 2010's, were one of the more sought-after sneakers in the numbered Jordan collection.
Come 2025, sneakerheads will have a chance to once again own the Air Jordan 5 in the iconic “Grape” colorway. Releasing with OG tooling, this will be the closest thing we've seen to the original 1990 pair.

While the specific details of the release are still to be determined, we should see the original color scheme of White/New Emerald-Grape Ice-Black. The last release of this edition was back in 2013, so fans have been waiting for quite some time to restock on a fresh pair of these.
The Air Jordan 5 “Grape” features a white leather upper, accented by the icy rubber mesh panel along the lateral side of the shoe. The iconic grape and emerald color-blocking is set in the midsole. The tongue will feature the same scheme in grape purple with an oversized Jumpman logo in emerald. The shoes are completed with icy blue outsoles and we should see the classic Nike Air logo along the back heel. All in all, there's no surprise that these are a staple in every Jordan Brand fan's closet.
The Air Jordan 5 “Grape” has yet to see an official release date, but they're expected to drop around the spring/summer seasons in 2025. The shoes are expected to come with a $200 retail tag and should be available in full size runs for the whole family. Don't miss out on your chance to own a piece of sneaker history when these release.
