NBA teams love to see confidence in the young guns, and it appears Evan Mobley is one who's got a massive surplus of such, as anyone could glean from this particular quote from the big man ahead of the 2021 NBA Draft, per Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle, which implies greatness beyond the levels of LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Mobley on his ceiling: “I think I'll be a generational player that no one has seen before. I'm going to keep working and stay in the gym until I get there.”

That’s meat drenched in fresh blood in the eyes of the shark-infested waters of Twitter, which loves to fish this kind of authoritative declaration whenever it becomes clear that that isn’t just the case. But we’ll just have to leave Evan Mobley to prove that while playing for the team that will select him in the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft.

Mobley is expected to be taken high in the NBA Draft, likely inside the top five, and it’s not hard to see why. He’s a seven-footer who could do it all on both ends of the floor. In his lone season for the USC Trojans, Mobley averaged 16.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks in 33.9 minutes per game. Mobley can take over offensively and defensively with his incredible blend of agility, awareness, quickness, and timing that go along with his size.

It would be exciting to see him try to prove his words in the big league.
