Recent news of Victor Oladipo's diagnosis with a ruptured quad tendon could potentially be an omen to his career as a member of the Indiana Pacers. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, only two players in recent history have suffered the same injury — Hall of Famer Charles Barkley and Tony Parker as recently as two seasons ago, both resulting in a season-ending path.

The injury could severely impact a player's explosiveness and athleticism — two major parts of Oladipo's game that could be put in danger through a procedure.

Much like the modern NBA player, Oladipo relies on his ability to zip past defenders and soar to the rim for athletic finishes to get his scoring going, something that could be hampered by going under the knife.

Yet if there is someone capable of withstanding the mental and physical toll that would take to come back from an injury of such magnitude, it is Oladipo, who was in good spirits despite the freakish nature of his setback.

“The Spurs didn't have a lot of guideposts to study with Parker's ruptured quad, but expect that Pacers will study Parker's recovery process,” Wojnarowski tweeted. “Oladipo is a relentless worker and a unique spirit. You like his chances to find a way through a long, arduous process.”

The Pacers, however, will have to be utmost careful with his procedure and his road to recovery, resisting the temptation to get him out on the floor any earlier than 100 percent, as the risk of re-injuring the tendon can be too great at this point of his career.
