Tickle no one shocked and do not call them Nancy. Kentucky Wildcats coach John Calipari has had enough with the exploitation of college basketball players. If it were up to him, the players would be able to make money off their likeness.

“Players should be allowed representation just like they have in baseball,” Calipari said, according to FanRag Sports. “They don’t need a new model because there’s already a model in place. That’s what they do in baseball. Players should be able to earn income because of their name, their signature, and their likeness. If a uniform is sold with a player’s name on it, the player should get a percentage on it. If they want to go out and sign autographs, let them sign autographs. The money should be deferred. They should be able to sign a shoe contract too, but the money should be deferred unless it’s used by the parents of the player for transportation or expenses to come and see the kid’s play. They’re not professionals if that happens and it probably eliminates a lot of stuff.”

This isn't new for John Calipari. He has been tooting this horn for pretty much his entire career.

What does make this slightly more interesting is the timing of it all. With the Louisville Cardinals currently a debacle due to the FBI probe, you might think Cal would want to go-in on his in-state rival. However, rather than kicking other programs while they are down, the Kentucky coach continues to advocate for a more progressive college basketball model.

Of course, many are expecting to hear Cal's name as the FBI keeps on doing the probe into college basketball. That being said, as it is now, he has no direct connection to any of the current scandals rocking the sport. Instead, it is North Carolina and its academic scandal and the 10 other programs mentioned in the FBI report.

For the purposes of the FBI thing being the most entertaining, here is to hoping everyone's supposed “the right way” coaches get busted and Calipari leaves the event with his name cleaner than something that is really clean.
