The reports on Jay Wright seriously considering retirement came as a shock to the basketball world. After all, it seemingly came out of nowhere, especially since the legendary tactician has been a stabilizing force on the sidelines for Villanova for 21 years.
However, Wright has a really good reason to retire now and stop from coaching: his family. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the 60-year-old coach made the decision due in large part to his desire to spend more time with his wife and three children.

After two decades of coaching and giving it all for Villanova, who can blame Jay Wright for choosing to step down and spend time with his family? Besides, he dedicated two decades of his life with the team, bringing two NCAA Championships and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances for the Wildcats.

Wright started to alert close friends on Tuesday night that he planned to retire as Villanova coach. He's described as "fully at peace with the decision," one source says, and ready to move to next stage of his life. Wright's 60, a two-time NCAA champ and Naismith Hall of Famer.

As mentioned earlier, Wright plans to retire from coaching and not just Villanova despite potential interests from NBA teams. Sure enough, that makes a ton of sense because of his desire to be with his family.
