Just two games into the new NCAA football season and we already have a major coaching change on the way. This comes in the form of the USC Trojans, who have just confirmed that head coach Clay Helton has been booted out of the program. This development the Trojans' disastrous loss to Stanford on Sunday.

USC came out with an official statement regarding Helton's immediate departure, via Director of Athletics Mike Bohn:

This does not come as a huge surprise considering how poorly the Trojans have kicked off their season. In Week 2, USC came in as a 17-point home favorite against Stanford, and their shocking defeat turned out to be the final straw for Helton. It was a week in college football that featured a number of upsets, but perhaps there was none more resounding than that of the Trojans falling to an underdog Stanford side.

Helton parts ways with the USC Trojans after 11 years. The program initially brought him on board in 2010 under Lane Kiffin. After a number of stints as the interim coach, Helton was finally promoted as the team's official head coach in November 2015.

It remains to be seen who the Trojans intend to replace Helton with, but we should expect an announcement from the program soon enough.
