Looking to bounce back from a disappointing second round loss to the Milwaukee Bucks during last year's playoffs, the Brooklyn Nets are re-tooled and ready for a historic title run this season. With Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving getting a full season to play together (depending on the Kyrie stuff) and build stronger team chemistry, the Nets look primed to win the Eastern Conference and bring home their first NBA title in franchise history.

Unfortunately for them, it won't quite be that simple now that they've run into a few road blocks heading into 2021 NBA training camp. With Irving only set to play road games for the team after failing to comply with the state of New York's COVID-19 vaccination mandates, they'll have to implement a different strategy for road and home games.

On top of that, the Nets will have to compete with a deep and talented Eastern Conference after a ton of player movement and roster overhaul by several of their East Coast foes during NBA Free Agency this summer. Given all that they'll have to overcome this season, let's now discuss the two reasons why the Brooklyn Nets won't win the 2022 NBA championship.

Brooklyn Nets NBA Championship Hangups

They'll be competing with a new and improved Eastern Conference

After witnessing a ton of player movement and roster overhaul across the entire Eastern Conference this summer, it's safe to say that the Brooklyn Nets won't have an easy path to the 2022 NBA Finals. Especially with the Bucks, Heat, Sixers, and Hawks looking to be back with a vengeance and ready to prove they all possess the depth and talent to match the firepower and star-studded cast of this Nets team.

The Sixers could be a question mark with a cloud of uncertainty surrounding the Ben Simmons situation, but the Bucks, Heat, and Hawks are voided of the drama and are re-tooled and refocused with the hopes of knocking off the Nets during the 2022 NBA playoffs. Considering the time they've all had to rest, recuperate, and build team chemistry, it wouldn't come as any surprise to see one of these East Coast powerhouses overtake the Nets and come away with the conference title in 2022.

Kyrie Irving will only be with the team for road games

Still yet to be vaccinated, Kyrie Irving is in violation of New York's COVID-19 vaccine mandates and is only expected to be with the team for road games this season. This as a result will be a huge detriment to the team and wear on them all throughout the season. Not to mention Irving, Durant, and Harden did not get a full season to play together last year and this will undoubtedly disrupt their opportunity to build stronger on-court chemistry this season.

Come playoff time, the Nets will need all their superstars together for every game throughout the postseason. So if Irving is unable to comply with the vaccination mandates, then this will definitely alter the Nets' chances of bringing home the title in 2022. Considering his value to the team, this would be a major blow and would also put more pressure on Durant and Harden to carry this team to the promised land.
