The Brooklyn Nets took a hard blow when they learned they would be without the services of Spencer Dinwiddie for the remainder of the season due to a partially torn ACL. While the story was definitely unfortunate, the Nets still have make on-the-fly adjustments to ensure that their still able to compete for a championship throughout the season.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets will apply for a $5.7 million Disabled Player Exception in the absence of Dinwiddie:

The DPE will only be available for a player that's in the final year of their contract as noted by Woj. With such a minor amount in the DPE, it could make the objective of securing a talented player difficult.

No one the Nets land would be able to replace the production of Dinwiddie, who underwent surgery to repair his ACL on Monday. Dinwiddie suffered the ill-fated injury against the Charlotte Hornets on Dec. 27. He exited the game with five points, four rebounds and three assists through three quarters of play.

The Nets are still deep enough to make a championship run despite the absence of Dinwiddie. Caris Levert and Joe Harris have proven to be viable backcourt options alongside Irving. Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, however, has stolen the show after his increase in playing time after Dinwiddie's injury.

Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot turned in a 21-point performance against the Memphis Grizzlies, one game after the Dinwiddie injury. He played nearly 40 (39:53) minutes during that contest.

Dinwiddie is coming off his the best season of his career during the 2019-20 campaign. He averaged 20.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.8 assists while helping lead the Nets to a playoff berth. The hope for Brooklyn is that he hasn't played his last game in a Nets uniform, seeing as how he'll be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
