Since joining the Brooklyn Nets, Bruce Brown has become known as a player who does a little bit of everything to help his team. Whether it’s scoring, rebounding, or defending taller opponents, Brown’s contributions for the Nets have made him an important part of head coach Steve Nash’s rotation.

With the Nets set to face the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, Brown — who occasionally spends time as the team’s small-ball center — will likely have the unenviable job of guarding Pelicans big man Zion Williamson. But instead of backing down from the challenge of defending one of the NBA’s most physically imposing players, Brown welcomes it and even plans to draw a charge from the first-time All-Star:

Brown’s statement about trying to draw a charge from Williamson is exactly what his coaches and Nets fans want to hear, and captures his attitude of doing whatever he can to help Brooklyn to a victory. However, it will not be an easy task for the 6-foot-4, 200-pound Brown to guard the 6-foot-7, 284-pound Williamson.

In his second season in New Orleans, Zion Williamson’s stats are ridiculous at 26.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 62.5% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc. He may be the bigger and taller player, but that’s something that isn’t likely to stop Brown from going up against him.

In his first season with the Nets, Brown is averaging 8.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 54.9% from the field and 24.4% from downtown. But aside his numbers, it is his defense that helps Brooklyn, and something the team will need when they face Williamson and the Pelicans.
