The Brooklyn Nets have an injury to deal with after their rookie forward, Dzanan Musa, hurt his ankle last weekend while playing for Bosnia and Herzegovina in a FIBA World Cup qualifier match against the Czech Republic.

Musa was flown back to New York after sustaining the lower-body injury to get further medical attention, though, Nets general manager Sean Marks has tried to allay fears over the extent of the forward’s ailment, per Michael Scotto of The Athletic.

Nets GM Sean Marks says Dzanan Musa is getting an MRI and his status will be determined, but his injury is “not as serious as posted out there.”

Musa was selected in the first round (29th overall) by the Nets in June’s NBA Draft.

Brooklyn believes that the lanky Bosnian could provide the team’s offense a shot in the arm, as Musa is known to be an excellent bucket-getter.

Standing 6-foot-9 with a range that extends behind the arc and ability to knock down shots off pick-and-roll setups and isolation plays, Musa should give the Nets additional point of attacks on offense. Last season, the Nets averaged 106.6 points per game on 44.1 percent shooting from the field.

Musa is expected to play behind Allen Crabbe, who’s currently slated as Brooklyn’s starting small forward, but the Bosnian will always have a chance to showcase his skills on a Nets team that is still rebuilding.
