It has been said over and over again, but Brooklyn Nets superstar James Harden knows it's true: defense wins championships.

Ahead of their second-round playoffs series with the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, Harden opened up about what the Nets need to do to become truly an unbeatable team. As the All-Star guard emphasized, they have the offense that can wreak havoc, so the only thing left for them is to step up offensively and make the necessary stops.

“When we get stops, like multiple stops in a row and we go out and get layups and threes from all of our guys, it’s very difficult to beat us,” Harden shared, per Forbes. “Obviously offensively we’re great. It’s just we gotta have some consistency which we’ve had these last few games.”

When the Nets built their “Big 3” of James Harden, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the issue that fans and experts quickly pointed out is their defense. After all, in the playoffs where the intensity reaches another level and defenses get more physical, scoring won't be as easy.

Sure enough, the Nets have arguably the best offense remaining in the playoffs. However, Harden knows very well they also need to make life hard for their opponents. They can go all-out on an offensive showdown, but in the end, it is the team who makes the key stops that will win.

It remains to be seen how Brooklyn will adjust as they face the Bucks, but one thing is for sure: the team knows their weakness and where they should focus at.
