The season hasn't exactly gone according to plan for the Brooklyn Nets. But Kevin Durant isn't bothered one bit.

In a recent piece from The Ringer's Logan Murdock, the Nets star spoke candidly on his changing perspective ever since making the move to the East Coast.

Via The Ringer:

“Before, I used to worry about expectations, but now, I’m solidified and confident in what I bring,” the Nets star says. “I just try to focus on me the most as I can, the best I can.”

There's nothing in this game that Kevin Durant hasn't already achieved. He's been named the league MVP and has won several scoring titles. He's also been the best player on a championship team. While the critics will never truly be silent surrounding his career, and the many inflection points spread across it, KD has learned to be unbothered.

“Us winning a title, that would be amazing. That would be incredible. But that’s not the only reason why I play basketball,” he says. “I want to develop every day and I truly like this activity, you know what I’m saying? I like getting up knowing that I’m going to go play, and that’s really it for me. The championship and scoring 30 and the level that I expect to be at, that’s because I work to get there, but I just simply like the activity.”

The Brooklyn Nets could very well storm into the playoffs and win it all this season. Maybe they come out guns blazing next year and take the title then. Or Kevin Durant could come up short until the day he retires.

But at the end of the day, Kevin Durant just wants to play basketball. It's as simple as that. While his greatness on the court evokes expectations and criticism from all around, he's tuning all that out to enjoy the game that he loves in its purest form.
