Kevin Durant got an unlikely partner on Thursday as the Brooklyn Nets rolled past the Indiana Pacers en route to a historic night for the squad.

Durant exploded for 42 points and dished out 10 dimes while one of their newest pick-ups this year in Alize Johnson balled out with an impressive outing. Johnson tallied 20 points and 21 rebounds to become just the third Nets player ever to come off the bench with a 20-20 line.

After the game, Durant gave props to Johnson for his career night.

Durant and Johnson helped the Nets extend their winning streak to four games with their 130-113 rout of the Pacers, further separating themselves from the second seed Philadelphia 76ers.

After missing the entire 2019-2020 season, Durant has already sat out 36 games this campaign, including 23 straight ones from February to April due to various injuries. On Thursday though, the former MVP looked like his old bucket-getting self, shooting 66.6% from the field to grab his second 40-point outburst this season. It's definitely been helpful for KD that his teammates have been stepping up to help the Nets stay on top of the Eastern Conference while he gets some much-needed rest.

Speaking of players stepping up, Alize Johnson truly had himself a game. Although the unheralded 25-year-old was a couple of points away from tying his career-high of 23 points, his 21 boards were a new career-best. His hustle and grit out there didn't give Nets coach Steve Nash much of a choice but to play him heavy minutes.

And clearly, Kevin Durant was all for it.
