The Brooklyn Nets simply could not contain Jayson Tatum on Sunday, as the Boston Celtics' star dropped 54 points in the statement victory. Late in the game, Kevin Durant couldn't mask his frustrations, shaking his head in disappointment following another Nets defeat.

With time winding out in the fourth quarter and Tatum at the free-throw line, Durant could be seen shaking his head, visibly frustrated, as the Nets failed to squeeze out a victory against their rival Celtics. Durant put up an admirable performance of his own in the loss, dropping 37 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists, but it ultimately wasn't enough to counteract the huge night from Tatum.

The loss sees Durant and Brooklyn drop to 32-33 on the season. Should the regular season come to an end on Sunday, the Nets would only qualify for the play-in tournament, currently slotted as the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Nets have now lost both games that Durant has played in since his return from his MCL sprain. He's played well in both games, but the team hasn't managed to squeak out a victory.

The Nets desperately need to correct things and get the season back on track. After offloading James Harden at the trade deadline, the team acquired Ben Simmons, who has yet to feature in a game. It remains unclear when he'll make his debut for the team, but the pressure is mounting on the team that was once considered heavy favorites to win the NBA Finals, as they face a real risk of missing out on the playoffs altogether following Sunday's loss.
