The Brooklyn Nets suffered their third loss of the season on Friday, falling to the Atlanta Hawks, 114-96. After the lopsided defeat, Brooklyn coach Steve Nash was asked about his decision not to call timeouts during Atlanta's runs, to which he responded with clear explanation — which prompted the backing of Nets superstar Kevin Durant.

According to Nash, he intentionally opted not to call timeouts in order to let his team play out the runs:

It did not exactly work in Brooklyn's favor, with the Nets unable to stop the bleeding. The Hawks eventually ran away with the game, which resulted in the Nets losing the game by a significant margin.

Durant himself took no issue with his coach's decision-making during the loss, as he expressed his support for Nash:

Durant was unsurprisingly Brooklyn's best player on the evening, finishing with 28 points on 10-of-21 shooting, to go along with two triples, eight rebounds, four assists, a steal, and two blocks in 37 minutes of action. However, not even the former MVP's heroics were enough to carry the Nets to a win against a surging Hawks side, which saw no less than six players score in double-digits on Friday.

The Nets are off on Saturday, but will return to action on Sunday against the 1-5 Washington Wizards. That should be an easy win for Nash and his men, as Brooklyn look to establish themselves as legitimate title contenders early in the season and put the salty taste of the Hawks loss behind them.
