Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving continues to be away from the team amid his decision to not get the COVID-19 vaccine. As of right now, he won’t be able to play in home games due to New York City’s vaccine mandates. Because of these rules, he also missed practice on Tuesday in Brooklyn, per Shams Charania:

As you can see, this is becoming a serious problem. Not having Kyrie available for home games is one thing, but that also means he wouldn’t be able to practice at the Barclays Center. There has been some speculation that Kevin Durant could convince Irving to get the jab, but nothing is set in stone at this point.

The Nets’ title hopes rely on their Big 3, not just James Harden and KD. Irving is a huge piece of the puzzle, but how far should Brooklyn take this situation? Andrew Wiggins, who was also against getting the vaccine, finally caved in earlier this week and received it and now he’s able to play in Warriors home games.

Nets head coach Steve Nash gave a cryptic update on Sunday of Irving’s whereabouts and status for practice, making it clear he has absolutely no clue when he’ll be back with the team. Tip-off is quickly nearing and Brooklyn needs to figure out this situation ASAP. It’s not something they want hanging over their heads for months to come as they chase a championship.
