New York Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley got the first start of his young career. Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving made sure to keep the young gun on his toes with a series of dribbling moves.

Peep the clip below to witness Irving's incredible handles. Props to Quickley for doing his best to stay in front of the shifty guard. But Kyrie Irving is just too good. Not only does he have filthy moves, but he's also a great finisher at the rim.

Quickley got the start against Kyrie Irving since Elfrid Payton is still out due to a hamstring injury while Derrick Rose is out to observe health and safety protocols. However, Quickley was chosen as a starter not just because the Knicks have run out of guards. The rookie has been on a tear as of late. And it's only about time that he gets more minutes.

Speaking ahead of the match-up, head coach Tom Thibodeau shared his thoughts on the Quickley versus Kyrie Irving duel.

ā€œThe thing I love about Immanuel is the way he approaches it. Every day he learns. That's why he's growing the way he is. He's a student of the game. This will be a good challenge (against Kyrie Irving). It's not an individual matchup, it's a team matchup. We have to be tied together. Everyone has to be part of it,ā€ Thibodeau said, per Steve Popper of Newsday.

Quickley's ankles might have been bruised by Kyrie Irving. But he still deserves all the credit for not backing down against one of the elites.

It has to be said that while Quickley received a basketball education from Kyrie Irving ā€” which isn't fun in the heat of the moment, when it actually happens ā€” this is precisely the kind of occurrence which will build and develop Quickley's knowledge base, so that he can grow and evolve as an NBA player. A rookie season needs these kinds of moments so that a good player with upside can ripen into a star-level player a few years down the line.
