Steve Nash held his first official media session as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, though he did not have a ton to say on two of the more prominent topics of the team's offseason.

Brooklyn is rumored to be one of the preferred trade destinations of Houston Rockets superstar James Harden. But Nash had little to say regarding the team's possible pursuit of “The Beard,” saying he believed the team's roster is strong as currently constructed:

“As far as the Harden rumors, I don’t know,” Nash said, via Brian Lewis of the New York Post. “I love our roster…That’s a question for somebody in a different role.”

The former NBA MVP also had little to say with respect to some comments Nets point guard Kyrie Irving made earlier this fall.

Irving commented on Nash's hiring during an appearance on Kevin Durant's podcast. Kyrie stated “I don't really see us having a head coach,” suggesting the team will sort of operate on its own and flow through the two superstars.

Nash was not willing to elaborate on Irving's quote, instead stating it was “taken out of context,” per Lewis.

Plenty of eyes will be on the Nets this season as they hope to contend for a championship with Irving and Durant both back and fully healthy.

Brooklyn surprised the NBA world by hiring Nash, but the longtime point guard has an established relationship with his two stars, and also assembled a coaching staff that will relate to the players on the roster.

In any case, Nash appears eager to begin the journey.
