Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond has been one of the names floating around especially with the trade deadline and buyout market more active than ever. Drummond, who has been rumored to either be acquired by the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets, seems to have a new suitor—the New York Knicks, according to The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor

Fear the Sword’s Evan Dammarell also mentioned that the Knicks are after Drummond due to the fear of losing him to the Lakers and Nets. Before Drummond sat out for the Cleveland Cavaliers, he was averaging 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. The 27-year-old was drafted ninth overall in the 2012 NBA Draft. He suited up for nine years with the Detroit Pistons and was recently acquired by the Cavs, who have made it known that Drummond is available for trade.

In the nine years Drummond has been in the league, the center was awarded to the All-NBA Third Team in 2016. He’s also a four-time NBA rebound leader and is a two time All-Star. The Lakers were considered one of if not the favorites to land Drummond before O’Connor’s report because of the defending champions' need for an athletic big. The Lakers could have potentially given Drummond a starting role especially with both their superstars sidelined due to injury.

While there are no confirmed trade transactions yet, Andre Drummond will remain as a hot topic this coming trade deadline. According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, the Cavaliers are reportedly having a hard time finding the perfect trade match for Drummond because of his contract.
