Former NFL defensive back Rod Woodson is now a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame after putting together an illustrious career as a professional football player. Now looking to possibly get into coaching at the highest level, Woodson has actually found that such a feat is much more difficult than he initially anticipated.

However, Rod Woodson has an interesting take as to exactly why he hasn't been able to break into the coaching ranks of the NFL on a full-time basis.

It appears Rod Woodson believes the problems he has in trying to crack the NFL coaching ranks stem from the fact that he is the owner of a gold jacket as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The 55-year-old Rod Woodson last played in the NFL back in 2003-04 as a member of the Oakland Raiders. Stringing together a 17-year NFL playing career, Woodson initially suited up for the Pittsburgh Steelers before eventually bouncing around a bit. In addition to the Steelers and Raiders, he also played for the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens along the way.

Over the course of 238 career regular season appearances, Rod Woodson produced more than 1,150 total tackles and 71 interceptions. He also appeared in 20 postseason games en route to winning one Super Bowl, reaching 11 Pro Bowls and being named to six All-Pro teams.
