NFL head coaching vacancies have started to get filled up, but Mike McCarthy remains on the market. The former Green Bay Packers head coach has only interviewed with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns thus far.
But according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, McCarthy doesn’t want to be considered for any other head coaching vacancy other than the Jets’.
This shouldn’t be too surprising a development. It’s been previously reported McCarthy that McCarthy will be picky about his next coaching job and wouldn’t be averse to sitting out the season if he didn’t find the perfect fit. And if this report is anything to go by, it appears McCarthy views the Jets as that ideal fit for his services.

The Jets also have a lot of cap space to work with this offseason, which could significantly help their efforts to rebuild their roster in free agency.

But if not, it appears the ex-Packers coach will sit out the 2019 season and wait for another ideal situation to open up before he returns to coaching.
