Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes burst onto the NFL scene and almost immediately became a household name. He was lauded for his athletic ability on the football field. On Tuesday, he showed that it isn't just football where he can ball out.

During a videotaped pick up game, Mahomes is seen showing off some sick handles. He initially crosses up his defender. Then he cuts into the lane, splits two defenders and hits an acrobatic spinning layup. He might not be NBA ready, but it's clear that he can ball. His footwork along with his ball handling was on full display.

That same footwork was part of what has allowed him to stand out in the NFL. Patrick Mahomes' ability to make plays with his legs have helped vault him into legendary status already. That's despite only having started for four full seasons.

His first year as a full-time starter, he tied Tom Brady for the second most touchdown passes in single season history with 50. Only Peyton Manning has more with 55. Mahomes would win NFL MVP that season, but ultimately lose in the AFC Championship to Brady and the New England Patriots in overtime.

He followed that season up with a Super Bowl championship and Super Bowl MVP award. Astoundingly, Patrick Mahomes has led the Chiefs to a home AFC Championship in all four of his years as a starter.

Some of the big plays Mahomes created with his athleticism ended with connections to Tyreek Hill. The All-Pro receiver is now in Miami, leaving some questions as to how the Chiefs quarterback will fare without his game-breaking wideout. But you can bet dollars to donuts, he will answer those questions this year.
