Earlier this week, the Indianapolis Colts shook things up by trading for New York Jets star cornerback Sauce Gardner, giving up not one but two first round picks in the process. The move signaled that the Colts are all-in on trying to compete for a Super Bowl this year, despite their recent blowout road loss at the hands of the mediocre Pittsburgh Steelers.
Gardner is still in the concussion protocol from his time in New York, causing some to wonder whether or not he would be in uniform when Indianapolis takes on the Atlanta Falcons next weekend in Berlin, Germany.
Recently, the team got the latest update in that regard.
“#Colts HC Shane Steichen says CB Sauce Gardner remains in concussion protocol from his time with the Jets, but he will practice today and is expected to play Sunday vs. the #Falcons in Germany,” reported Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on X, formerly Twitter.
It will certainly be exciting for Colts fans to see their new star cornerback in action against a Falcons team that got a huge game out of Drake London a week ago in their loss to the New England Patriots.
A big move for the Colts

The Indianapolis Colts were expected by most to be a fringe playoff team at best heading into this year, but have quickly blown away expectations, thanks in large part to the play of Daniel Jones (Steelers game aside) at the quarterback position, as well as Jonathan Taylor at running back.
Those two have led what has been an elite offensive unit for the Colts all year, and now with the Gardner acquisition, the Jets have suddenly turned their secondary into one of the best units in the NFL as well.
While the Falcons don't necessarily present the best litmus test for future success, Colts fans would certainly like to see a good performance out of their new star, assuming that he does indeed clear protocol and is able to go.
