One of the more intriguing quarterback prospects from this year's NFL Draft class has been Louisville's Lamar Jackson. There have been constant questions concerning whether he can truly have success under center at the next level or should seriously consider making a position change to wide receiver to maximize his abilities on the field.
There have been notable detractors such as Hall of Fame front office executive Bill Polian, who believe that shifting wide receiver is an evitable move for Jackson along with others who want to see him get a shot at playing quarterback. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is one of those that believe the 20year-old can make it in the league playing the quarterback position.

Reid's perspective on the situation is quite interesting given that he has coached two quarterbacks in Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick, who weren't the most accurate of passers over their respective careers. In fact, Jackson has drawn many comparisons to Vick for his explosive ability as a true dual threat as a runner. Reid's belief that the former Heisman Trophy winner can succeed at the next level under center likely stems from that first-hand experience with that type of mobile quarterback.
It also helps that Jackson has three years of footage at the collegiate level where he excelled with his that type of play. He had become the first player notch at least 3,500 passing yards and 1,500 rushing yards in back-to-back seasons. He also set the Louisville record for total offense (13,175 yards), rushing yards (4,132), rushing touchdowns (50) and total touchdowns (119).
At this point, it's simply difficult to force Jackson to play another position before he has even had a shot to prove that he can adapt his play in the NFL and be an effective quarterback. Only time will tell if he will get that opportunity from the team that drafts him in late April.
