Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby has been one of the best players on the ice since he entered the NHL in 2005. Crosby continued to add to his case as one of the best players in the history of the league on Tuesday, as he joined NHL legend Mario Lemieux and longtime Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin with his latest feat during his team's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, as reported by ESPN Stats and Info.

Penguins star Sidney Crosby scored his 500th career goal against the Flyers. Crosby became the 46th player in NHL history to accomplish the feat but just the second active player, joining Alex Ovechkin. He's also just the second Penguins player to score 500 career goals, along with Mario Lemieux.

Crosby scored the historic 500th goal on a cross-ice one-timer during a power play midway through the first period. It's somewhat fitting that the pass came from longtime Penguins teammate Evgeni Malkin.

Crosby spoke about the feat that put him in a historic NHL conversation, saying that it was nice to accomplish it at home in front of the Penguins fans.

Sidney Crosby's 500th goal is another notch in the bedpost for his case as one of the greatest NHL players of all time along with Mario Lemieux and Alex Ovechkin.
