Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone loves where his team is right now, but believes the club can become even more special once point guard Isaiah Thomas and rookie small forward Michael Porter Jr. return.

Entering Wednesday, the Nuggets have the second-best record in the rugged Western Conference at 29-14. Denver star big man Nikola Jokic is playing like an MVP and starting point guard Jamal Murray has taken his game to the next level.

However, Malone is sending a warning to the rest of the league, saying his team is going to become even more lethal when Thomas and Porter are cleared to play.

“As much as I love our team now, you look at Michael (Porter Jr.), you look at Isaiah (Thomas), you look at Jarred (Vanderbilt), we have a chance to be a special team when we do get everybody healthy, whenever that is,” Malone said, via Mike singer of the Denver Post.

Both Thomas and Porter are recovering from surgeries. Thomas underwent arthroscopic hip surgery in March of 2018, while Porter Jr. had two surgeries on his back. The first occurred when he was in college at the University of Missouri and the second one after the Nuggets drafted him with the 14th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

When he was in high school, Porter was believed to be the best player in the country and a lock to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft. But then the back surgery happened and his stock dropped.

However, there are some around the league who believe the Nuggets got a steal with Porter, who when healthy, can score in bunches.

Thomas, meanwhile, had a rough season last year after having an MVP-type campaign with the Boston Celtics in 2016-17. Thomas, though, is excited to prove the naysayers wrong and has a chance to play his game in Denver since he's reunited with Malone.
