This year's Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will feature No. 11 Ole Miss and No. 10 Penn State at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA. The second of the New Year's Six bowl games will take place on Dec. 30 that has both of these historic programs meeting each other for the very first time.

Lane Kiffin has not only led the Rebels (10-2) to a 10-win season for the second time in three years, but he has also gotten them to a NY6 bowl game for a second time in the same stretch. It's also the fourth consecutive bowl game for the Rebels under Kiffin. However, they are 1-3, with their only win in the Outback Bowl in his inaugural season. Earning an 11th win would give Kiffin his best record at a Power-5 program.

James Franklin's Nittany Lions (10-2) find themselves in a NY6 bowl game for a fifth time since the former Vanderbilt coach arrived. Last year's winners of the Rose Bowl will be hoping a win will give them their second consecutive 11-win season since 2017 and 2018. Under Franklin, the Nittany Lions are 4-4 in bowl games and 3-1 in NY6 games.

These are two teams that are comparatively similar to each other, mostly in that they feel a lot like the bridesmaid and not the bride in their respective conferences. Both lost to the top-ranked teams in their conference, with Ole Miss losing to Alabama and Georgia and Penn State losing to Ohio State and Michigan. But now they get to face each other to see who's best of the third-wheels. Now, let's get into some Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl bold predictions.

Penn State's offense plays better but still not anywhere near elite

James Franklin fired offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich after the Michigan game where the Nittany Lions scored just 15 points. Over their next two games, they scored a total of 69 points against Rutgers and Michigan State. They'll have a completely new offensive coordinator next season in Kansas' Andy Kotelnicki. He won't be the play-caller in the Peach Bowl but he's likely to have been involved in the offensive gameplan.

Pete Golding's defense as the coordinator at Ole Miss averaged giving up 23.7 points per game, which ranked 47th in the country, according to Team Rankings. The Rebels gave up just 10 points in their last two games, though against very pedestrian offensive teams, which has been the case with the Nittany Lions this season as well. But I'd expect more of an offensive productive day for Penn State in the Peach Bowl, with quarterback Drew Allar helping them score over 20 points.

Jaxson Dart throws for over 200 yards but is held to under 50 yards rushing

Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

This Ole Miss offense essentially goes as Jaxson Dart goes. Proof was in the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State where the quarterback only threw for 96 yards and a touchdown and ran for 30 in a 17-7 win over the Bulldogs. It's doubtful Dart can put up a 300-yard-plus game against Penn State like the four he had this season, but a fairly spread-out day through the air and on the ground seems doable. Regardless, it will be a challenging day for the Rebels' quarterback.

Late game turnover helps Ole Miss win the Peach Bowl over Penn State

Let's face it, both of these coaches need signature wins right now, but Kiffin needs it more than Franklin, who at least has wins over Michigan and Ohio State in his tenure. This season, though, neither coach has much to brag about, with Penn State's best win being over Iowa and Ole Miss over LSU, who are both still ranked.

Much to the liking of Kiffin, Penn State will be without perhaps its best player in defensive end Chop Robinson, who will be getting ready for the NFL Draft. They're also under interim coordinators on both sides of the ball, with former defensive coordinator Manny Diaz taking the Duke head coaching job. That could be a lot to overcome for one team. This could be a one-score game with a turnover being the difference-maker late.
