The term âsavageâ has been among the most passĂŠâ adjectives in sports parlance these days, but itâs probably the best word to describe the way a local Boston TV station derided the Cleveland Cavaliers â particularly the teamâs peripheral players â in a segment following the Cavsâ 107-94 loss to the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday.
Hereâs a photo of that segment as captured by MMQBâs Albert Breer.
Itâs one thing for players to be called useless on Twitter and on Facebook. Itâs another for a TV show to put them on blast for their ineptitude. In this age of social media, the traditional medium of television remains as the leader when it comes to embarrassing public figures.
As seen on Breerâs photo, the five âmost uselessâ Cavs are Jeff Green, George Hill, Jordan Clarkson, JR Smith, and even Cleveland head coach Tyronn Lue.
In Game 2, Green scored just six points. Hill had three points, while Smith went a ghastly 0-fpr-7 from the field and finished with a big fat egg. Clarkson, meanwhile, did not play at all.
LeBron James, as usual, did most of the heavy lifting for the Cavs, as he scored 42 points on 16-for-29 shooting to go with 10 rebounds and 12 assists to finish with a triple-double stat line that went for naught. Kevin Love provided some help to James with 22 points and 15 rebounds, while Kyle Korver came off the bench and fired 11 points.
If the Cavs are going to claw their way back from a 2-0 hole in the series, itâs becoming more and more obvious that they canât just rely on James alone. All of them has to step up, something the Cavsâ faithful is hoping to see this Saturday at home.
