The Indiana Pacers will be without Malcolm Brogdon once again due to a sore lower back, as the team officially ruled him out for Thursday's game against the Denver Nuggets.

Brogdon has missed three games in November and four in December, the last three coming after a hamstring injury forced him out after a tilt against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The guard's most recent injury sidelined him after only eight minutes of playing time following that three-game absence, a deflating shot for a Pacers team that still managed to blow out the Philadelphia 76ers before the flip of the calendar.

Brogdon is averaging a strong 17.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 7.4 assists — numbers that would look much better had he not had two of his outings cut short due to injuries.

Aaron Holiday is likely to get the nod to start at point guard against the Nuggets, while T.J. McConnell will get a bump in minutes as the immediate backup. Brogdon will be considered questionable for Saturday's game against the Atlanta Hawks, depending largely on how sore his back feels ahead of gameday.

The Milwaukee Bucks executed a sign-and-trade to deal Brogdon to the Pacers this summer. While it largely was a move made due to the steep price of re-signing him, many had internally wondered about his durability, as he missed considerable time with injuries in his second and third seasons with the team.

The Pacers are hoping Malcolm Brogdon can rejoin them soon ahead of the return of shooting guard Victor Oladipo, who is nearing a year-long absence after a season-ending injury in 2019.
