The Carolina Panthers are set to take on the New England Patriots on Sunday. However, this franchise has put fantasy football managers in a debacle, as the team has been flip-flopping their decision to play Sam Darnold.
According to Dan Graziano, the Panthers are “waiting to see how his pregame warmup goes before deciding whether he or PJ Walker starts.” Carolina is literally waiting until the final minute before choosing which quarterback will play under center.
Sam Darnold is active for the Panthers, but I’m told they are waiting to see how his pregame warmup goes before deciding whether he or PJ Walker starts. Still undecided as of 45 minutes til kickoff.

This is less than ideal for any fantasy football managers who rosters Sam Darnold. It's never a good thing to have this much indecisiveness for a player, especially for a quarterback. The Panthers are tugging at the heart strings of fantasy managers, making this a tough situation.
We'll see what happens. Darnold has looked decent through warmups leading up to the game against the Patriots. According to Pat Welter, Darnold has been “extremely limited” throughout the entire week. He clearly isn't 100 percent, which is concerning for the Panthers and fantasy football managers.
A look at Sam Darnold warming up before todays #Panthers game vs. the #Patriots. Darnold "extremely limited" during the week but going to give it a go. His right shoulder took a big hit on the play that resulted in a concussion vs. Falcons. pic.twitter.com/PjXdgyAL0K

Making an on-the-fly decision isn't the best, but it's not the end of the world. If you play in a one quarterback league, there should be some decent streaming options available. Even if Darnold is named the starter against the Patriots, it might be smart to bench him in fantasy football anyway.
Head to the waiver and look for a quarterback with a decent matchup. Jimmy Garoppolo could be available and might be a great play with George Kittle back in the San Francisco 49ers lineup.
Additionally, with Aaron Rodgers sidelined with COVID-19, Jordan Love becomes an intriguing streaming option as well. The Green Bay Packers face a weak Kansas City Chiefs defense. Love aims to prove himself to the Packers and make the organization excited to move on from Rodgers.
Pick up one of these two quarterbacks right now and start them over Sam Darnold. It's not a perfect situation, but it's better than nothing.
