The New England Patriots will have their toughest test so far this season against the Buffalo Bills in Week 4. Luckily for the Patriots, running back Rex Burkhead is expected to play versus the Bills, per Adam Schefter.

Burkhead suffered a foot injury in last week's game against the New York Jets. The Patriots running back was a limited participant in practice all week, but he has done enough to be active on Sunday.

Rex Burkhead isn't the starting running back in New England, but they still tend to use him often in the offense. The versatile running back has rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on 24 rushing attempts.

Along with his ability to carry the ball, Burkhead has also hauled in 13 receptions for 110 yards this season. This week, New England will face a talented Bills defense in a battle of undefeated teams.

The strength of Buffalo's defense is their secondary, which could lower the expectations for the wide receivers. Due to that, Tom Brady may decide to attack the Bills defense by targeting his pass-catching running back.

Therefore, it is crucial that Burkhead is able to suit up in Week 4 to provide the Patriots with a mismatch out of the backfield. Of course, expect to see James White utilized alongside Burkhead for New England on Sunday.

Besides Burkhead, Julian Edelman is also expected to play on Sunday with a chest injury. However, if Edelman is hindered at all with his injury then Burkhead could see more usage in the passing attack for Josh McDaniels' offense.
